Your Child’s First Birthday

Categorized: Birthdays, Ideas | No comments

There are many challenges and achievements in the first year of a child’s life. In fact, much of the development that will prepare them for adult life begins at this early stage. This is why the first birthday is such a special time for parents as they celebrate the anniversary of the birth. It is said that the first birthday is for the parents as the child will not remember it, and in most cases this is certainly true. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time!

Having a party
Most parents choose to have a party for close friends and relatives to share the special day with their child. In some cases the parents will invite other children (and their parents) that they have gotten to know since becoming parents themselves. This is completely up to the individual, but it can be a lot of work preparing for a party and looking after a one-year-old at the same time.

Gifts
A one year old is very easy to buy for and there are countless toys on the market. Wrap it up in some cute baby wrapping paper and enjoy watching them open their present and then begin playing with the baby gift wrap instead!

Food
By one year of age your child will be eating solid food and their birthday offers a good chance to spoil them with a special treat. A good idea is to choose something that they have enjoyed in the past and make them something that they have never had before.

Extending the celebration
Some parents are now choosing to have a birthday party for their child at lunchtime and have a party for the adults after their child has gone to bed. This is a good chance for the adults to unwind and enjoy the day without worrying about their children. However, if you have parents with other children planning to stay make sure they have somewhere to sleep too.

The first birthday party is a special event for any family. By preparing for the big day you will ensure that you, your child and your guests have a great time.
